Dear Pastor and Church Family,
We give God the honor and glory for all He has done for and through His people at Cornerstone Baptist Church. This year, the Lord has moved in mighty ways! We have seen souls saved through our soul-winning efforts and our church has grown in number. We are a unified people with a revival spirit and fervor to get the gospel to all of Hondo and surrounding areas. I have witnessed our members love each other, care for each other, and encourage each other in Christ. Cornerstone Baptist Church is a diverse body with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, which is a great strength when witnessing for Christ in Hondo.
So far this year we have had 16 people get baptized, 11 people join the church as members - making 45 members total, and numerous people profess Christ. We see visitors almost every Sunday morning. Recently, we have added focus on winning the lost family members of church members who have recently been saved and baptized. We are scheduled to have another Baptism Sunday service in September and expect to have a family join or church this Sunday, August 25th, Lord willing.
We started the year off with several church-wide fellowships and 'Friends Day' which brought many visitors. In February, we began a nursing home ministry where we meet at the Hondo Community Care center after church and preach and sing to the senior residents. We meet monthly.
Spring was an exciting season! We formed a young adult Sunday school class that meets in a private room at the local coffee shop every Sunday morning - due to lack of space at the Community Center. We had our first Resurrection Sunday sunrise service at our church property. We had revival, several church activities including a teen fundraiser to send our teens to camp, and Baptism Sunday. We also had our first wedding!
Summer has been busy with a boost in number for our Sunday morning service. We have averaged an attendance of 62 with the highest attendance being 73 people. Our teens attended Southland Christian Camp in June and several youth rallies in neighboring cities. We hosted a one-day VBS for the children and had visitors attend and accept Christ as their Saviour. We invited two guest preachers to preach and minister to us in song.
Fall is one of our busiest seasons with multiple community outreach events, men's and women's fellowships, soul-winning and Bible studies, themed Sunday's and a guest preacher in November - Pastor Michael Scott.
As we look forward to finishing the year, we ask for prayer for a church building so that we can be more effectual for our work in Hondo. Though we do our best every week with the building the Lord has provided us - the Hondo Community Center - we are hindered by lack of space, lack of facilities (such as a kitchen), and rental time limits.
We are excited for all the Lord is doing in Hondo, TX and count it a privilege to wait on His timing for a church building! We expect great things from our Lord for the future of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Thank you for partnering with us financially and in prayer. We love you and pray for your church and school, as well. May His will be done!
Sincerely in Christ,
Russell James
